The Shop Assistants - I Don’t Want to Be Friends With You

The Black Ryder - To Never Know You #shoegaze

Why have I never listened to this?

WTF it’s bad enough when other bands steal this…
theoreticalgirl:

Inspired by the iconic sleeve of Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures album, this Waves Mickey Mouse Tee incorporates Mickey’s image within the graphic of the pulse of a star. That’s appropriate given few stars have made bigger waves than Mickey!

UGH.

Just in case you wanna live that “Warm/Crawl” morning, too. WARNING: “Crawl” might blow your mind.

The Primitives - Stop Killing Me

// May 21, 2011. Interview in Rittenhouse Square, Philadelphia.//

The Big Takeover: How do you know Pam Berry?

Lupe Nunez-Fernandez: I know her through Mark [Powell] from Pipas because Pam used to live in D.C. and he used to live in Bala Cynwyd [writer’s note: a suburb of Philadelphia]. He used to go to shows and he was in bands, and she was in bands so they hung out. When she moved to London and he moved to London, they knew each other. He introduced me to her and we became really good friends, and we’re still very good friends.

TBT: Did you know her music before you met her?

LNF: No. Not at all.

TBT: It probably would have been different.

LNF: Maybe, but why?

TBT: Well, her music is so awesome… I can’t imagine meeting her.

LNF: But she’s also very down-to-Earth.

Alasdair Maclean: She’s about more the love of music, even though her music is very awesome.

LNF: There’s talk of them maybe doing some shows in the States.

Maybe it’s not good practice to publish a part of an interview before it’s posted but whatever…you’ll see it either way.

Carrie Brownstein on self-important music scenes: “When you’re indoctrinated into a scene, there’s this pride that comes with being accepted and understood by people you admire. But the flip side of that is this almost stifling sense of democracy. You put yourself down, to overcompensate for the embarrassment of riches or the little attention you get.” Even worse, she said, was “the élitism that passes itself off as inclusiveness.” She went on, “The rules are so esoteric, so hard to follow, that no one else could fit in. And what you’ll never admit to yourself is that you don’t want other people to fit in.” That’s a good summation of what “Portlandia” lampoons.

Pale Saints - You Tear the World In Two

...and in that moment, I realised I was sitting in a photograph.
